Christian and Clara were the true power couple of this series. They were DESTINED for fucks sake! And usually I'm not one for the whole destiny bullshit, but seriously these two were simply exceptional. As an angel she had to move to the town for her destiny which she thought was to protect Christian, but I her destiny was just to be with him. She ended up falling for Tucker and blah blah blah. No fucks to give. Now, don't get me wrong, Tucker's a nice guy and all but Clara was not for him. He didn't understand the complications of being an angel. She wasn't herself around him and that is a major thing for me when shipping couples. She couldn't even go into fucking 'Glory' because its not a thing for humans and Tucker himself couldn't even handle that. He didn't have a plan for his life. Tucker wanted to stay in the hoe dink town and move his father's lawn or what the fuck ever. Christian and Clara were supremely much better, for one he never asked Clara to be anything but herself and him being an angel helped that as well. Christian was simply the sweetest guy ever and there fucking first kissssss.
I can respect that Clara loved Tucker, but don't come to me and tell me that they were internal and devoted because they aren't. I WILL ALWAYS BE TEAM CHRISTIAN. I WAS ROOTING FOR TEAM CHRISTIAN.
My only saving grace is that eventually there will be a book or something where she shows the destruction of Tucker/Clara and the progression of Christian/Clara because in all honesty Tucker will probably die before Clara because she lives a lot longer than him. Also there was this quote from Cynthia:
“One thing that annoys me about the tropes of YA lit is this idea is your main character is going to stay with one guy (that she meets at age 16, of course) FOREVER. Statistically speaking, this isn’t true of most human beings. It makes even less sense for people who are going to live as young people well past 100. I tried to show this with my books, both with Maggie and Michael, who didn’t start their romantic relationship until Maggie was 99 years old and had already had 2 great loves in her life, and Billy and Walter, who don’t get married until they are post-100, either. Yes, Clara marries Tucker. But that doesn’t mean that they are going to last FOREVER. Clara and Christian will definitely have their time. In their own time.”
See you soon. ;)
I AGREE! TEAM CHRISTIAN ALLLL THE WAY! They understood eachother more than her Tucker ever could! I'm just happy that the author assured us that they were endgame in the end after all! I also hate how Tucker didn't let Clara be herself around him! Christian and Clara forever!
